Buni Yani left his house at dawn

Buni Yani will serve a sentence of 18 months in jail starting from Feb 1.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DEPOK -- The convict of the Information and Electronic Transaction Law (ITE) violation case, Buni Yani, was known to have left his residence before dawn. It was revealed by security officer of his residence at Kalibiru Permai Housing, Cilodong, Depok City, in West Java, on Friday (Feb 1).

"I hear from my partner that Mr. Buni was picked up before dawn, but it's not clear who (picked him up) because it was very early in the morning, maybe his attorney," said the security officer, Erwin.

Meanwhile, Buni's wife and child left the housing complex at around 10:00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB). They were said to go to the Depok City District Court, West Java.

Erwin said there was no commotion when Buni or his family left their residence.

"At the first time this case appeared, there were many commotion, but now it's normal, not like before," he said.

In his daily life, according to the security officer, Buni is an ordinary and simple person. "But neighbors around his house don't really know him," he said.

Meanwhile, the wife of Buni Yani, Mimin Rukmini said that she would not attend the execution at the Depok City District Court. "But as a good Indonesian citizen, (my husband) certainly will not run away from the law," she said.

Buni Yani was sentenced to 18 months in prison by the Bandung District Court, He would be executed on February 1.

Buni Yani was found guilty of violating Article 32 paragraph of the Information and Electronic Transactions Law (UU ITE) for uploading and commenting a video of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama "Ahok" as the Governor of DKI Jakarta on October 6, 2016. The video posted on Buni's Facebook was only 30 seconds, while the original video lasted 1 hour 48 minutes 33 seconds.

The Supreme Court has refused to repair the cassation from Buni Yani with the file number for filing case W11.U1 / 2226 / HN.02.02 / IV / 2018 since November 26, 2018.
