BETHESDA, MD — One man has been arrested for an armed jewelry heist in which a trio of thieves, at least one armed with a gun, stole more than $60,000 worth of valuables, but Montgomery County Police are still seeking the other two robbers from a Bethesda jewelry store on Friday, according to authorities. Derrick Lamont Graham, 42, of an unconfirmed address, is charged for his role in the Dec. 13 armed robbery of The Jewelry Exchange store, 7747 Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda.
On Dec. 17, police released surveillance video of the suspects and asked for help in identifying them. Detectives received multiple tips identifying Graham as the suspect who carried a handgun.
The next day, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Graham charging him with the armed robbery.
Graham was arrested in Arlington, Virginia, on unrelated charges on Dec. 30. He remains in custody in Arlington pending extradition to Montgomery County.
Montgomery County police released this surveillance footage of the armed robbery in hopes that the public can help identify the suspects.
At approximately 5:46 p.m. on Dec. 13, Graham and two other men walked into The Jewelry Exchange. Police say Graham held a handgun while the other two robbers demanded jewelry. They stuffed boxes of jewelry into bags while Graham acted as a lookout.
Detectives ask anyone with information about the suspects or this robbery to call the police's Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100. Tipsters can also call the county's Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest or indictment of these suspects. Callers will remain anonymous.
