Woman sues Jared, former employee over camera hidden in Reno jewelry store's restroom - Reno Gazette Journal

A Washoe County woman is suing national retailer Jared the Galleria of Jewelry and one of its former employees after he allegedly hid a camera in the employee restroom at the company's Reno store.

The suit alleges that Daniel Pulido Deleon placed a camera underneath the feminine hygiene box and pointed it toward the toilet.

The camera was in the restroom from approximately April 23 to May 7 and captured photos of the woman, according to the suit.

Her attorneys, Alex and Orlando De Castroverde of the De Castroverde Law Group, could not be reached on Tuesday.

The incident was first reported to Reno police on April 24, and Pulido Deleon was arrested on May 6 on several charges related to photographing someone in a private area, according to Officer Travis Warren.

Pulido Deleon was fired the day the company learned about the allegations against him, Jared spokesperson David Bouffard told the RGJ on Tuesday. Bouffard could not say when that was, but confirmed it was before the lawsuit was filed on Monday.

The suit also accuses Jared of intentionally transferring Pulido Deleon to the Reno location in the Summit Mall after he had been accused of sexual harassment at another location and officially reprimanded.

Jared disputes this claim, according to Bouffard. He said Pulido Deleon had never been the subject of a sexual harassment complaint at Jared or any other company.

“Immediately upon learning of this isolated incident, we took prompt, decisive action by alerting law enforcement, caring for our employees, conducting an investigation, and terminating the employee as his actions are against every one of our core values,” Bouffard wrote in a statement.

“While we aren’t at liberty to comment on this ongoing investigation, we have a zero tolerance for such behavior, and remain committed to providing a safe environment for all.”
